Hotel Tax measure alive and well in the legislature

Posted: Updated:

Shreveport-Bossier Hotel Tax continues to move on through the Louisiana legislature.

Today HB1191 advanced out of the Louisiana Senate Local & Municipal Affairs Committee today. The group worked out an agreement with the Hotel Associations to reduce the percentage from 2.5% to 2.0%.

The next step is the full Senate, then the House. If the bill passes the state legislature, voters in Shreveport and Bossier City will decide if it will go into place.

The money raised will go to three different organizations who try to attract business and additional tourists to the area.
