Special night; Coach Guin addresses team

HAUGHTON, La. - As the Haughton football team prepared for their first spring game in 15 years without head coach Rodney Guin running the show, the man who is beating the odds and recovering from a massive heart attack gave them a special message before the game. It was the first time Guin had spoken to his team since his heart attack and both sides were very emotional. "Nobody's ever going to forget that . That was special. I sent his wife a text message after that and said I don't know if you were filming me but I said he just made me cry on TV. He's going to pay for that", said interim head coach Jason Brotherton.

Although he was in a hospital room more than 200 miles away, it didn't take Guin long to get into coaching mode, telling his team, "If I've learned anything out of this deal, you never know what day is going to be your last day to do something. Go out there and don't waste a single play because you may not get another one tomorrow".

Despite being in the fight of his life, Guin's love for his team remains strong, something his players never questioned. ""It's a great feeling to know that he keeps fighting and even through adversity he's behind us and we're behind him. The whole community is behind him. We've got the student section screaming go Coach Guin. We've got the whole community behind him", said senior quarterback Will Haines.
