Unrestrained Mansfield Man Killed in Crash

Posted: Updated:

On June 3, 2014, at approximately 6:01p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one vehicle crash on LA Hwy 3015 west of Grand Cane, in DeSoto Parish. The crash claimed the life of a Mansfield, LA man that was not wearing his seat belt.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1992 Dodge truck, driven by 60-year-old David Sudds Jr., lost control of his vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning multiple times, collided with a fence, and came to rest against a tree. While the Dodge was overturning, Sudds was ejected from the vehicle. Coroner's Office, Alcohol use is also suspected to be a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to "buckle up!"

Troop G has investigated 6 fatal crashes this year which have resulted in 6 deaths.
