SHREVEPORT, La -

A local man faces armed robbery charges after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint Thursday night in south Shreveport.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on June 5, 2014, Shreveport Police Department's 911 dispatchers received a 911 call from a victim who reported he had just been robbed at gunpoint by a suspect while in the 8800 block of Millicent Way. During the conversation with the victim, dispatchers gathered information indicating the victim was reportedly robbed while in the process of purchasing a cell phone from the suspect whom he'd met on Craig's List.

It was further learned that the victim, while being held at gunpoint, was somehow able to wrestle the gun away from the suspect and gain control of the weapon. The suspect, after being disarmed, fled to his vehicle and sped off. The victim followed the suspect, relaying information about the suspect and his direction of travel to authorities. Patrol officers were able to apprehend the suspect on West 70th Street near Kennedy Drive where he was taken into custody without incident.

Shreveport Police Robbery detectives were called to investigate the matter and later arrested the suspect, identified as 22 year old Jakory Lang of the 600 block of Fairfield Avenue. Lang was charged with a single count of Armed Robbery and booked into the Shreveport City Jail. Lang also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest through the Shreveport Police Department for an unrelated matter.
