Residents react to human trafficking case

Posted: Updated:
NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTBS) - It is a story that is shocking. Modern day sex slavery, using high tech tools to trap a woman into captivity, all happened here in the ArkLaTex. Those in the small Natchitoches Parish Community are still in shock that something like this could ever happen in their community. "It's just amazing something like that could happen in this area. I mean everybody knows everybody knows everyone here. How they could do it for that period of time is just unheard of," said resident, Clarence Slayton.

Police say the victim, a 50-year-old transgender woman, met her captors online, and was lured from Minnesota to Louisiana.  The woman lived with the couple, David Rodriguez, Jr. and Christina Harper for two years at 513 Dick Anderson Road near Ajax, Louisiana. According to police, it all began with a connection on the sites, collarme.com and slaveregistery.com.

Law enforcement officials say the trans-gendered woman was tattooed by Rodriguez, with a tattoo registering her as a slave. Police say the relationship turned violent to the point where the woman felt she had no choice, but to take a chance at freedom. Natchitoches Parish Sheriff, Victor Jones, said it is the worst case of it's kind that he has encountered. "Several weapons, 13 in total. Long guns, riffles, shot guns, hand guns was recovered from the residence among some other sex toys," said Jones.
