Posted: Updated:

The Caddo Parish School Board gave the green light to one of three applicants submitted for approval.

Leaves of Gold Academy and Central City Academy Rays of Hope Foundation were denied charter status by the board.

Algiers Charter School Association which is based in New Orleans was approved.

"I think we are in a good place. I think if you look at our success; two schools that we have from an "f" to a "c" in one year. We also have unified two cross-town rivals into the most powerful high school this past year. We taken state basketball champs, and semi-finals in state football. I think we have a pretty good track record for making good things happen and we are on that track for this upcoming year too," said Adrian Morgan, Algiers Charter School Association CEO..

Algiers Charter plans to open by August 2016.
