Little River Sheriff Gary Gregory won the Democratic Primary Runoff Tuesday against former Sheriff Danny Russell.

Gregory won with 53% of the vote.

The two candidates have been at odds with each other since the campaign started.

Several residents waited inside the Little River County Courthouse Tuesday evening as results came into the County Clerk's Office.

While both Gregory and Russell have a long record of law enforcement experience, they also fought a long difficult race.

Sheriff Gregory says he feels good about the win and appreciates everyone's support.

"We finished it up and I just want to thank everyone for putting up with the candidates and going through what we've had to go through," said Sheriff Gregory.

Sheriff Gregory will face Republican Bobby Walraven in the November election.
