SHREVEPORT, La - Update:

Shreveport Police have identified the man who lost his life following a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning in east Shreveport.

Just after midnight on Sunday Shreveport Police responded to a two vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of Clyde Fant Parkway at Shreveport Barksdale Highway involving a motorcycle and a four door sedan.  When officers arrived, they learned 23-year-old Derrick M. Hall who had been operating a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle, died from injuries received after colliding with a  2009 Hyundai Accent.  A witness on the scene of the accident told authorities Hall was traveling south bound on Clyde Fant Parkway approaching Shreveport-Barksdale Highway when the driver of the Accent, 24 year old Janee Clay of Shreveport, entered ClydeFant Parkway heading east from the exit ramp of Shreveport Barksdale Highway, allegedly pulling into the path of Hall's motorcycle. As a result the motorcycle hit the driver's side of Clay's vehicle.  Shreveport Fire Department personnel arrived on scene shortly after the accident at which time Hall was pronounced deceased.

Clay, who was not seriously in the crash, was transported to an area hospital for standard toxicological testing as mandated by state law.  While no exact cause of the accident has been established, Crash investigators believe that speed may have been a causative factor. The investigation is ongoing.
