Shreveport woman fights off attacker

SHREVEPORT, La. -

Shreveport Police are looking for a suspect who attacked a Shreveport woman in her home on Sunday.

It was reported that the incident happened in the 9400 block of Boxwood Drive around 11:00 p.m.

"She was bound with some sort of cord during that whole ordeal. The woman was somehow able to fend the man off by hitting him with a blunt object and escaping the house," said Marcus Hines, spokesperson with the Shreveport Police Department.

The attacker is described as a white male suspect with a muscular build. He is around 200 pounds.

And was last seen driving a black Dodge pick up truck.

The victim suffered minor injuries, but refused medical care.

"We do believe that she was fortunate in order to fend this guy off. As I understood it, the man was armed with a weapon at the time of the incident," said Hines.

Police say it is always a good idea to be mindful of your surroundings and follow your gut iinstinctconcerning safety

"You always want to know what is going on. If you pull up to your residence, i suggest you shine your bright lights or drive around to make sure there is no one following you. When you exit your vehicle, you should always have your keys in hand," said hines.

    A unanimous vote today by the Bossier City Council will bring some changes to Walker Place park which is located by the Century Link Center. The vote means an extra 1.8 million dollars is approved for it, which translates to a very nice state of the art park.Cooperatively building the park with U.L. Coleman companies was one of the provisions of a lawsuit settlement between the development firm and the city. The park will cost a total of 2.8 million dollars
