Posted: Updated:

Shreveport's Morning Star Baptist Church went pink this Sunday for a good cause.

The church held its second annual Pink Sunday event. It's a fundraiser for the C. Wright Pink Ribbon Project, which is an organization that helps women fighting breast cancer by offering emotional and financial support. A special offering took place during worship service for the project. It's founder Catherine Wright says cancer victims need their community's support.

"People don't know what you are going through when you are being diagnosed with breast cancer," Wright said. "She financial burden that's on that patient. So, what we try to do with the c. wright pink ribbon and through services like this, the funds raised, we will help those women who are battling breast cancer."

Since it began, C. Wright Pink Ribbon Project says it's helped 43 women.
