4th of July "In God We Trust" Rally to be held by Bossier Young Marines

Posted: Updated:

As we prepare to celebrate our country's Independence, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office Young Marines are gearing up for their 4th of July In God We Trust Rally.

You may remember the Young Marines got national attention after the Department of Justice denied federal funding to their program because of the voluntary prayers students in which students could engage. Program officials say since their funding was denied by the DOJ, they've received thousands of dollars to support the program and the kids who are involved, and they're continuing in line with their patriotic theme with their rally this weekend.

The Young Marines program is a youth education and service program for kids from age 8 through high school. The program promotes the mental, moral and physical development of their recruits. Officials with the young marines program say that Friday's rally is to celebrate our country's Independence and support of our country's motto "in god we trust"-nothing more nothing less.

The fun begins this Friday from 1 pm until 4 pm at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City. There will be fun for the whole family with children's activities outside under tents, while the main program takes place inside of the substation. The Young Marines will present the colors and lead the program in the pledge and the national anthem. KTBS 3's Rick Rowe will be the emcee.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be food, drinks and goodies for the kiddos to enjoy.
