Dr. Lawrence "Larry" Clark takes over LSU-Shreveport

Posted: Updated:

There is new leadership at the LSU- Shreveport campus and the school welcomes their new chancellor.

Dr. Lawrence "Larry" Clark is originally from Freeport, Illinois but he's no stranger to the area.

Clark spent 13 years at LSU-S in the 1980's.

July 1st was an official day of change for the campus, as the school also revealed it's new purple and gold color logo.

"I am looking forward to helping LSU-Shreveport to becoming even more engaged in the community," said Clark.

The returning chancellor will face some hurdles as he returns to the campus including funding issues and improving graduation rates at the university.

"Unfortunately I have already had to make $475,000 in permanent cuts, prior to my becoming the chancellor officially yesterday," said Clark.

He also spent his week getting to know his new faculty, staff, and students, to get them familiar with the new leadership.

"My leadership style is one of working with a team trying to build a team, so yesterday was all about trying to show how that could work and what we could do," said Clark.
