Hope family seeks answers in father's death

Posted: Updated:
Hope, Ark. -

A heartbroken family in Hope, Arkansas is seeking answers about the tragic death of their father.

The victim was found in his home Wednesday morning in the 300 block of South Ferguson Street.

Katie Hunt says her father, Gary Tuberville, loved his family and grandchildren, restoring old furniture and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

"He would help anybody he could help. If you needed help he would do it," said Hunt.

She visited him everyday, but on Wednesday morning Hunt made a startling discovery and ran next door to a nearby auto repair shop.

"She said she found her dad on the floor covered in blood and wanted me to call 911," said Brian Shebbirt, mechanic.

Shebbirt says Tuberville had lived in the rent house across the street for about a year and half and kept to himself.

Police say the 57-year old man was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent blunt force trauma to his body.

"Everyday is not promised to you and my daddy was a good man," said Hunt.

Hunt doesn't believe any of her dad's belongings were missing, but says the cash from his wallet was gone.

She can't understand why anyone would want to harm him.

"We want closure. We want answers. We want to know why. We just want to know whoever did this can't do it to anybody else, that we get justice for my daddy," said Hunt.

Tuberville's body has been sent to the state crime lab in Little Rock.

If you have any information that could help police, contact the Hope Police Department at 870-722-2563.

An account has been set up at Bancorp South bank to help with funeral expenses.

You can go to any branch and say you'd like to donate to the "Gary Tuberville Love Fund" account number 1120845407.
