Terrence Williams serves as good example for Washington

Posted: Updated:
IRVING, Texas - As Shreveport’s L'Damian Washington continues to work himself back from a shoulder injury he suffered during the Cowboys off season, his main concern should remain just getting healthy in time for training camp.  Washington kept himself involved throughout mini camp and the remainder of OTA’s to make sure he'd have a good grip on the playbook and to be ready once the cowboys get to Oxnard.  Other than Dez Bryant and second year receiver Terrence Williams, the Cowboys have at least two receiver roster spots up for grabs. Washington knows Williams needed time to adjust to the NFL last year after coming out of Baylor and has made the transition well.

"Well, I think he's made a lot of strides,” says head coach Jason Garrett about Williams.  “He made a lot of strides during the season last year and you guys have heard me say this before that one of the things we liked about him coming out was that he would learn from situations that he's been in. Art Briles told us that and we saw that up close just working with him in practice throughout training camp.  You can coach him hard. He listens to the coaching and he tries to get better on the next rep. And he's very hard on himself, he wants to be a great player he works at it every day and you see the strides he makes.  He's gotten more and more confident.  You've seen that over the course of the year and you know, people say this and have said it in this league for a long time, the biggest jump is from Year One to Year Two and I think you see that in him.  He's in great shape, he's running better, he understands what we're trying to do on offense more, he understands defenses.  I think he's just getting better and better."

With Williams and Bryant the only locks, Washington should get plenty of opportunity at training camp and in the pre-season.
