University Health Shreveport hires new president, replaces Joe Miciotto

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. - University Health has hired a new president for it's Shreveport hospital campus.

Roderick Williams, an Alabama native, will replace 39-year veteran administrator Joe Miciotto.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Rod Huebbers, Chief Executive Officer of the University Health System, who praised Williams as “a natural leader who I know will inspire our University Health team and help our hospital achieve its higher goals in becoming the hospital of choice for everyone in the communities we serve.”

Williams has served in a variety of executive leadership roles for Inova Health System in suburban Washington, D.C. for the past 19 years, most recently as Vice President for Community Affairs for the system.  He has served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Ambulatory Services for Loudoun Healthcare and as Administrator for the Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which are part of the Inova system. He and Huebbers have worked together before.

“I am delighted to join University Health as the leader of its Shreveport hospital services,” said Williams. “I have strong ties to Northern Louisiana through my family and consider it an honor to be chosen to help guide University Health as it builds the best system of medical care in Louisiana for all families and all communities.”

Williams will start as President of University Health Shreveport on Aug. 1.

"There are a lot of changes going across the healthcare paradigm both at the federal, state and local levels. I don't think what Shreveport has experienced is much different than what hospitals have experienced all across the country," said Williams.

Williams holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia. He and his wife, Dazz, have two children, Elijah and Brandon.
