Shreveport city council called to court over Grigsby suit

Posted: Updated:

The Shreveport City Council has been called in to court on Thursday, August 14th. It's over their lawsuit against the city's financial advisor, Calvin Grigsby.

We've been following this story for years, here's the latest.

A judge has ordered the attorney for the Shreveport City Council to appear in court to explain why their lawsuit against Grigsby shouldn't be dismissed.

The council sued Grigsby & Associates in February, claiming Grigsby overcharged the city by more than $53,000 on work he did on a $175 million bond issue in 2011.

City council officials say he should repay that amount.

The council and Grigsby disagree on whether he should be paid for one bond issue or for three separate bond issues.

However, before the issue could be resolved, the council has voted not allow Grigsby to perform any more city business including a second bond sale.

Court should convene at 9:30 a.m. on August 14th at the Caddo Parish Courthouse.
