SEC Media Days kicks off

Posted: Updated:
Hoover, AL -  The SEC is the first conference in college football to begin their media days and The 2014 SEC Media Days kicked off with a couple of landmarks. After Auburn fell in the championship game, it's the first time in 7 years that the national champion is not in attendance. But it's also an exciting time as the conference gets ready to launch their very own network.

Commissioner Mike Slive issues an update addressing the providers that will carry the SEC Network, "With AT&T U-verse and Dish, everybody in America can get the SEC Network. Now for some of you that would mean you would have to change carriers, but it is available. We are in very serious discussions with major carriers, but it's imperative to us to make sure all of you don't have to necessarily change your provider. We are pleased at this point with the progress we are making."

Auburn was the first team up with their eyes on repeating as SEC Champions, a feat that hasn't happened since 1998. But the Tigers say they're more worried about their season opener against Arkansas."You know it's going to be a challenge opening up the season against an SEC team, there's no doubt. We do have some experienced guys back. We are playing at home, but with that being said we expect Arkansas to be much improved. I think they're in a very similar situation we were at this point last year. We know they're going to give us their best shot," says head coach Gus Malzahn.
