Operation A + offers school supplies for kids in need

Posted: Updated:

Educators know how important it is for children to start the new school year with the supplies they need. That is why the KTBS 3 Operation A + Stuff the Bus campaign, is offering free school supplies to students in need.

Renee Ellis, principal of Westwood Elementary School credits a large part of her school's increase in student performance scores, to the efforts made to ensure every child is prepared to learn.

"It really is going to take the community to uplift each and every school in Caddo Parish.  We appreciate all of the donations that are given to 'Operation A+ for the upcoming school year," said Ellis.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 146 million families are low-income and can't afford all the school supplies needed in the classroom.

"We want our students to come to school prepared with the confidence of knowing they have people in their corner to supply them with all that they need," said teacher Marco French.
