Body found in burned Fisher house, homeowner's family fears the worst

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -

Friday morning, firefighters in the Village of Fisher, Louisiana returned to a house that caught on fire Thursday night. The blaze had flared up again, but this time they found burned remains in the home's kitchen. Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office says the remains were too badly burned to ID at the scene. Family say the home belonged to James Paul Green, 50. They fear the worst for their loved one.

"This is catastrophic," Mike McClanahan, Green's brother, said. "I wouldn't want any other family to go through what we're going through right now."

McClanahan drove here from Baton Rouge after getting the call about his brother's home. He says even if police don't confirm, evidence leads the family to believe firefighters found his brother's body.

"Based upon my gut feeling, and what I know about my brother, it's all but a gone conclusion as far as we are concerned," McClanahan said.

McClanahan says police found one Green's cars in Zwolle. He says they discovered blood, possible signs of a struggle. McClanahan urges any person with information concerning his brother or the fire to call police.

"I wouldn't want whoever did this to my brother to do this to anyone else," McClanahan said. "They need to be prosecuted and dealt with to the full extent of the law. Another family should not have to grieve with what we grieve with right now."

The sheriff's office couldn't confirm when the body's autopsy will be conducted and results released but hopes it'll happen on Monday. Until then, the Green and McClanahan family will wait. Police also haven't confirmed if they are treating this case as an homicide. The investigation continues.
