Shreveport Police detectives are investigating an early morning shooting which seriously injured a local man.

Just after 4:00 a.m. Sunday, Shreveport Police were dispatched to the emergency room of Willis-Knighton's north location relative to the arrival of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers learned 19 year old Jerandom Upshaw had been brought to the hospital by private vehicle after reportedly being shot while in the 3400 block of Palm Road. Upshaw, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, was transported from Willis-Knighton Medical Center to University Health Medical Center where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives along with Crime Scene investigators were notified of the shooting and responded to the scene. During preliminary investigation, information was gathered indicating Upshaw was present at a large house party held in the 3400 block of Alto Vista Avenue, when multiple gunshots rang out. It is believed a dispute erupted at the home which led to gunfire. It has not been determined at the current stage of the investigation what role Upshaw, who was armed with handgun at the time, may have played in the shooting. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible for the shooting. Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
