Rising Star; Shea Patterson's stock rises

Rising Star; Shea Patterson's stock rises

SHREVEPORT, La -

With rising junior quarterback Shea Patterson of Calvary having de-committed from Arizona, there promises to be plenty of college coaches following the Cavaliers throughout the fall.  Patterson may well become the most highly recruited player from our area for the next two years, with good reason.

"Shea Patterson, hard to intercept his balls. He puts them right on the money," mused defensive back Greedy Williams.

"He just has that it factor. He makes plays," said head coach John Bachman.

"He's what colleges are looking for these days. Tall, great arm, accurate, can run, dual threat," added receiver Jake Bartley.

"We call him pretty boy Shea, always want to look good and pretty so it's very fun playing with Shea," joked running back Orlando Bradford.

Calvary quarterback Shea Patterson is a five star recruit who has all of the big schools calling. The Cavalier junior has picked up almost 30 offers and will have his pick of top programs when his signing day rolls around. The main reason: Patterson is considered one of the premier dual threat QB's in the class of 2016.

"Drives me crazy because I'm on the sideline yelling no, no, no, no, no, yes, yes, yes. I mean I don't know how he did it or why he did it. Yeah I'm thinking what's he doing and then he throws a touchdown. I'm like that's what he was doing," mused Bachman.

"I heard he ran like a 4.60 at LSU and I was like oh wow," added Bartley.

And making plays through the air and with his feet hasn't come without certain comparisons.

"Coach Kiffin, the offensive coordinator at Alabama, our guys went to their camp and worked it, he pulled him aside and said you're a bigger, faster, stronger Manziel. We didn't say that, he said that so I'll let that speak for itself," said Bachman.

"Johnny Manziel, he's my favorite player to watch in any sport in the world, but I've watched his film this spring and I try to mimic what he does. To even be considered in his category is humbling," added Patterson

"I ain't going to lie, I say Johnny Manziel. Hands down, Johnny Manziel. He got the good scramble. He can pass like him. He's quick. He's smart. You can't find a good quarterback like him," said Williams.

And the Cavs feel lucky to have their state championship winning QB who still has two more high school seasons.
