Sportsmen across the Ark La Tex are gearing up for another season of hunting. There are unique hunting opportunities for hunters that you may not know about - these are through lottery systems

The state of Texas is offering a drawing where hunters can win the chance to hunt some of the biggest and best wildlife in the state. For Texas the entry is 10 dollars. Nine dollars if you enter online and you must be at least 17 years old to enter. Participants register to win one of 8 exclusive guided hunting packages. Those who enter get the chance at an ultimate Texas deer hunt. Waterfowl hunts in some of the prime areas of Texas. And you may be surprised to know that the Lone Star State offers exotic safari hunts complete with taxidermy where you can display your mount. Or if hunting doves, quail or turkey is of your desire those packages are also offered. And while we all know Louisiana is full of alligators, south Texas is also home to some the big gators to be hunted by use of this lottery. Texas will offer hunts for some of the angriest boars known to man.

This grand prize is called the grand slam. It is four separate hunts for big horn sheep, mule deer, white tail deer and prong horn antelope. The lottery sales are used to benefit wildlife management and other hunting efforts in Texas. Now there is a deadline which is October 15th. Even if your name is not drawn, money is raised for wildlife conservation and management.

Louisiana hunters may also take aim on several lottery hunts. You may apply for deer and waterfowl hunts on numerous wildlife management areas. There are specialized hunts for youth, people with physical disabilities and disabled veterans. The deadline for some applications is September 5th so you will need to act quickly. Louisiana hunts are processed with a non-refundable fee of 5 dollars.

And hunters, don't forget. .. Next weekend, in Louisiana, September 5th through the 7th, so you can shop tax free for almost all your hunting supplies.

    A unanimous vote today by the Bossier City Council will bring some changes to Walker Place park which is located by the Century Link Center. The vote means an extra 1.8 million dollars is approved for it, which translates to a very nice state of the art park.Cooperatively building the park with U.L. Coleman companies was one of the provisions of a lawsuit settlement between the development firm and the city. The park will cost a total of 2.8 million dollars
