Gravity Waves visible on satellite images today

 Gravity Waves showed up on the visible satellite image from earlier today (see Figure 1).  The rising parts produced clouds and even some scattered showers/storms in south Arkansas and north Louisiana for a short period of time (Figure 2).  The sinking sections cleared the clouds out for several miles.  These waves may have developed from a northwest component of the jet stream dipping down over the Ouachita and Ozark mountains in northern Arkansas (Figure 3) making for a wavy flow or up and down air motion south of the mountains.  Figure 4 is a good illustration of what the waves look like from the ground.
