Not really joy because Catherine gonna spend the majority of her life in jail. jamie mercer is happy now with the decision by catherine lowe who accepted responsibility in the death of her daughter celeste---but she didn't always feel this way. I didn't at first months ago when they told me about it because I was angry and I wanted her to pay the ultimate price. catherine lowe pleaded guilty in the death of her step- daughter 5-year old celeste lowe. the child died in january of 20-11. investigators say the child was killed after suffering injuries during an encounter with lowe. for almost two years prosecuters have been working to bring this case to court. Despite the efforts of the police and everything that they did this is not the best case in the world. bosier-webster district attorney schuyler marvin says lowe's guilty plea clearly tok pressure off prosecutors. The problem with our case we don't have an eye witness, we don't have any testimony. sentencing catherine lowe to a maximum of 25- years... I wish it would have been fifty years, but I'm comfortable with the plea.. and closing the case for the prosecution and healing the loss of a mother... It's not gonna make things easier because Celeste was a part of me, she was my child, I mean that's like a part of you that's mising now. jody, catherine lowe will be formally charged on december 18th--the d-a says the father in the case--wesley lowe--was a witness for the prosection and he wasn't charged in the death of his daughter. ok rod thanks for that report the d-a says-- manslaughter carries a maximum of forty years-- but they put a cap of 25 years in this case. an undercover operation at the state fair ended with eight arrests
