still
waiting
for
something
to
get
done.
and
now
the
city
council...
is
once
again
asking
the
mayor
to
sign
off
on
funding
for
the
park.
here
are
your
facts
first...
in
september
of
2011...
the
shreveport
city
council
voted
to
dedicate
more
than
seven
acres
of
land
at
hamel
memorial
park...
for
a
dog
park.
then
last
year...
the
red
river
waterway
commission
agreed
to
pay
for
the
280-
thousand
dollar
park.
but
even
after
the
city
council
voted
to
accept
the
money...
mayor
glover
has
refused
to
sign
off
on
the
project.

now
with
the
latest.
nick...
the
council
is
not
giving
up
on
the
dog
park
idea.
that's
right.
because
while
the
money
to
build
the
park
is
just
sitting
there...
the
mayor
won't
budge
on
his
stance.
after
a
couple
of
days
of
rain...
many
dog
owners
in
the
area
were
finally
able
to
let
their
four-legged
friends...
get
some
exercise.
"come
over
here,
parker."
kunal
maur
heads
to
hamel
park
in
shreveport
whenever
possible...
to
let
"parker"
here
stretch
her
legs.
"we
like
to
take
her
out
to
the
local
parks.
there's
plenty
of
open
space
to
bring
her
out
and
have
her
running
around.
it
would
be
great
if
there
were
a
dog
park
area
so
we
could
let
her
off
the
leash
"
but
the
funding
for
a
dog
park...
is
still
tied
up
at
city
hall.
and
mayor
cedric
glover
has
refused
to
sign
a
cooperative
endeavor
agreement..
to
build
the
park...
even
though
the
city
council
has
unanimously
agreed
to
accept
the
funding.
the
mayor...
has
said
the
money
conflicts
with
other
funding
requests...
from
the
city.
"the
mayor
has
plainly
stated
to
anyone
who
asks
that
he
has
no
intention
of
signing
it.
so
that
brings
it
down
to:
the
council
could
take
legal
action
against
the
mayor.
the
dog
park
alliance
could
do
that.
a
citizen
could
do
that."
council
chairman
michael
corbin
says
he
hopes
it
doesn't
come
down
to
that.
so
he's
formally
asked
the
mayor
to
provide
a
writen
report.
detailing
his
opposition.
he's
also
asked
the
mayor
to
form
a
comite...
of
concerned
parties.
to
see
how
to
move
forward.
meanwhile...
many
are
still
hopeful
that
city
leaders
can
put
the
politics
aside...
so
the
area's
first
dog
park...
can
have
a
new
leash
on
life.
"like
i
said,
i
don't
knothe
politics
but
i'm
not
sure
what
would
be
standing
in
the
way.
the
money
has
ben
approved.
and
local
dog
owns
and
citizens
would
like
it
here."

and
once
again...
no
sponse
from
the
mayor.
cynthia
keith

the
shreveport
dog
park
alliance...
said
the
group
is
considering
legal
action...
to
compel
the
mayor
to
sign
off
on
the
funding.
no
lawsuit
has
been
filed
yet...
but
we'll
let
you
know
if
that
changes.
thanks
nick.
the
funding
for
the
dog
park
would
include
getting
running
water
to
the
site--
along
with
rod-iron
fencing
for
two
different
areas
of
the
park...
and
park
benches.
