it's unique. but so is rick kuper the co owner of the east texas atraction. it's hard to decide which one is the most. when it comes to the ark la tex, one thing is for sure. just look around and no teling what you'l find. , maybe something - doubly interesting. even if you don't stop, you don't pas it by without taking at least a second glance. the hilltop galery is that kind of place. it looks like something you'd see in the texas hill country or the ozarks. located south of carthageon highway 79, the galery is surrounded by all shapes and sizes of wood carvings and chain saw sculptures. and no telling what elsebut as that old saying goes, you ain't seen nothing yet,,, untiil you go inside. haphazardly on display is the work of rick kuper and his partner eric vanwinkle. both do it all with eeric specializing in marble sculptures and rick with chain saw art. there are so many diferent things. i have like 50 projects in the trailer outback that i'm working on. i go back and forth like, what would you say rolling over, and going back and forth to cerin projects but keep a steady flow. if i lose interest i set things aside. one of kuper's proudest achievements, his carving and assembly of a dinasor. well, i guess my favorite piece is the dinosaur and i've got about three years of involvement in it and i could imagine at least 450 hours. there's a lot of epoxy in it and gluing . making sure. there's 14 pieces of wood in this raised leg. whether they come to buy or just to browse kupper is happiest when people stop by and not so happy when they don't. i get so sad when no one stops in a whole day.22,000 on saturday go over this highway and when no one person stops in it breaks my heart. cause i live for it. i truly live for it. my sun don't shine if someone don't . they don't have to spend a dollar. two or three come and love your carvings, rick, and boy you're kind of neat. oh boy i can hardly get my hat of my head gets all swolled up on me. but you bet, a good true artist. it ain't the money, it's the passion with our folks with your people. without them it wouldn't be tribal and earthy. rick kupper. he's as interesting as the unusual art work he turns out. hilltop galery on highway 79 btween carthage and deberry. susans closet held
