where you can go... are somewhat limited. but city officials hope that the recent addition of denver... to the shreveport connection list... can help add more destinations from regional airport. nick caloway with this arklatex in depth report. the thanksgiving travel rush is over... but the push to get more service hubs for shreveport... is just beginning. "We are putting some incentives out there to make a nice business deal with United, hoping and believing that our citizens will benefit from that relationship." council chairman sam jenkins says the city is considering 175-thousand dollars in cash incentives... to help offset some of the initial costs of investing in the denver service. that's in addition to the airport waiving the landing fees for that daily flight... for one year. "And that means, in essence, cash dollars that go to offset the start-up costs of new service, such as this United Airlines route to Denver." the city is hoping that in the future... united will add more direct hubs... with places like washington d-c or chicago. but that depends on the success of the denver service. so far on denver- bound flights... an average of 60-to-70- percent of the seats are full. that's compared to an average of 83- percent capacity... on all the flights leaving shreveport. "it takes a littel bit of time for the service to become more popular. The Denver service has been no exception. But what we've seen in the last few weeks is strengthening numbers." airport officials are optimistic that the numbers will take off... and hopeful that travelers will one day.. have more options at shreveport regional airport. nick caloway, ktbs 3 news. united airlines has seen an increase in ridership so far this year... compared to last. year to date... about 21-percent more people have flown united out of shreveport regional... compared to the same time period last year. united has seven departures a day from shreveport... ..six to houston... and one to denver. new at 6... if a job is on
