First responders will continue searching for what could be two bodies that fell into the Red River near Downtown Shreveport this morning.
A witness said around 9:30 Wednesday night that a body fell into the water from the train tracks above the Red River. Another witness reported two splashes in the water.
The train operator with Kansas City Southern confirms what the first witness saw.
"There was a report from a bystander that they did see a body go into the water," says Shreveport Fire Department's Louis Johnson. "The conductor on the train also confirmed that he saw someone on the track, that he did hit the person on the track."
Shreveport and Bossier fire departments- as well as the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office- put boats on the water last night. Crews searched the area by foot and boat early into this morning but had to suspend the efforts until daylight.
Investigators will continue combing the Red River beginning around 8 AM Thursday.
