tomorrow. the redistricting is aimed at evening out population sizes in different districts... according to changes in the 2010 census. and race... has become a factor in the process. the storis new tonight with nick caloway. nick... the council could vote tomorrow. what's the latest. well there are now 12 different maps to choose from. but a lot of the conversation about redistricting... is now centered around district "b"... and how many african americans will live in that district. with a dozen maps to choose from... the shreveport city council has some decisions to make when it comes to re-drawing district lines. ideally... lines would help each district to be represented properly... and not split neighborhoods in two. "The primary goal is to make sure that each district has the same number of people. But when you take from one area to give to another, it throws off the surounding areas." while the location of those lines is largely symbolic. each change... has a ripple effect. largely symbolic... each change... has a ripple effect. district has the same number of people.
