SHREVEPORT, La. -

It was a rare cool and crisp summer morning in the northern half of the ArkLaTex on Tuesday.

Temperatures dipped as low as 63 degrees in Mount Pleasant, Texas and Idabel, Oklahoma. Lower dew points in the 50s and low 60s made the typically muggy summer morning feel crisp and dry.

KTBS Facebook friends posted their appreciation for the pleasant morning.

“Really enjoying the cooler temps this morning!” Jacob Chavis posted.

“Reminds me that fall is coming!!!!” Derrell Thrasher commented.

The pleasant morning air was present along and north of a weak cold front that pulled up nearly stationary along the Interstate 20 corridor.

The refreshing air did not spread far enough south to reach viewers in southern spots like deep east Texas and the Toledo Bend area. Low temperatures only dropped into the 70s in places like Natchitoches, Louisiana and Nacogdoches, Texas.

Here are some of the low temperatures recorded very early on Tuesday morning (in degrees Fahrenheit):

Mount Pleasant: 63
Idabel: 63
El Dorado: 64
Texarkana: 65
Henderson: 68
Longview: 68
Clarksville: 70
Minden: 70
Ruston: 70
Shreveport: 71
Nacogdoches: 73
Natchitoches: 79

The cooler weather was forecast to be short-lived.  Tuesday's high temperatures were forecast to soar well into the mid and upper 90s across most of the ArkLaTex.

Lows on Wednesday morning were forecast to return mainly to the 70s, although a few northern spots in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma could drop into the upper 60s.
