SHREVEPORT, La. -

At sundown as illustrated on the graphic, Mega 3 Doppler Radar showed an echo with light to moderate returns resembling rain (i.e. green for light and yellow for moderate intensity).  But, the closest rain was near Many, Louisiana at the time.  Here, the colored areas were thousands of birds swarming around the Barnwell Center on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport.  Many of the them appeared to be Purple Martins according to Jeff Taverner of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries.

If you happen to be around the Barnwell Center at sundown, carry an umbrella with you.  This of course would not be for the rain!

Have a good night.
