Thunderstorms moved into the ArkLaTex overnight and early Friday morning, bringing brief heavy rain, lightning, thunder and gusty winds.
A cluster of showers and thunderstorms were ongoing in Northwest Louisiana. Most of the rain was centered over Caddo and DeSoto parishes.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Columbia County, Arkansas in the 2 a.m. hour as a cluster of strong storms rolled through the Magnolia area.
Several trees were downed just east of Magnolia in an earlier round of thunderstorms that came through late Thursday night.
Storm reports also rolled in on Thursday night from Gregg and Rusk counties in east Texas, where several trees and power lines were knocked down by gusty storm winds of up to 55 mph.
The storms fired up ahead of a cold front that stretched through Clarksville, TX into Hope, AR on Friday morning.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms were in the forecast for the first half of Friday as the front moves south through the ArkLaTex.
Rain chances taper off from north to south through the day on Friday. High temperatures should climb into the mid 90s.
