For some members of the Krewe of Centaur, Saturday's parade will mark their 27th parade. But for most, it's still as fresh and fun as the first time.
"What keeps it going is that everyone just has a good time, we keep it fresh, and everybody just doesn't want to leave it's like the party that no one wants to go home from," Krewe member Emily Pitts said.
The Krewe of Centaur gathered to review safety procedures and go over the parade route one last time before the parade itself.
With more than 700 members in the Krewe, Shreveport Police are expecting a huge turnout as usual, and want to remind everyone to follow the directions of officers while enjoying the parade.
"The weather is expected to be great for this parade, so because of that we expect a large of presence of people to come out and enjoy the parade. So we want everyone to have a great time, but we also want everyone to observe what's going so it can be fun for everyone," said Corporal Marcus Hines.
Clyde-Fant Parkway will close to traffic Friday night at 7 p.m., and the street will reopen Saturday morning at 7 o'clock so people going to the parade and start grabbing spots to watch from.
Hines said police will be monitoring the street before 7 a.m. and anyone trying to get a spot before then will be asked to leave.
