SHREVEPORT, La. - It's more than a hundred years old and it's been vacant for nearly 30 years.
But Shreveport’s Arlington Hotel is about to get its second wind.
Every Man a King Distilling and its restaurant partner, The Revenir, officially broke ground Thursday, for its $5 million privately funded venture at 700 Cotton Street.
But by early 2020 this 30,000 square foot building will be an entertainment complex featuring a distillery, open-kitchen French restaurant, hidden "speakeasy" music club and event space.
"My husband and I fell in love with he building. We were touring the area and we knew we wanted to do some kind of project in downtown Shreveport, we wanted to give back to the community. What we want to do is, we want to bring something to the area that they currently don't have. There isn’t a distillery in town so that’s something that’s new and exciting in the area as well as contributing to the momentum to downtown with the renovations of historic buildings and really just trying to revitalize this area of Shreveport.”, said Dr. Lindsey Pennington, one of the co-founders.
This complex is just steps from the strand theatre and a walkable distance from municipal auditorium and newly created the common park.
