Summer Feeding Program

Food insecurity is a problem that looms large when children are out of school for the summer. The USDA's latest estimates from 2017 show 8 percent of children under 18 struggle with food insecurity - that's 6.5 million children nationwide. Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas are among the highest number of families with food insecurity.

KTBS 3's Brenda Teele will go In-Depth to look at a summer program that hopes to bridge the gap on Wednesday, June at 9 & 10 on KPXJ/KTBS3.

SHREVEPORT, La. – Shreve Memorial Library is partnering with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana to once again offer the Summer Feeding Program. Children up to age 18 will receive free meals at participating Shreve Memorial Library branches as part of the Food Bank’s Summer Food Service Program.
