(Shreveport, LA) – Got a legal question? You may find the answer at your neighborhood library branch. Shreve Memorial Library has partnered with the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Library Association to present the 5th Annual “Lawyers in Libraries,” a statewide program. Local attorneys will visit three Shreve Memorial Library Branches to answer your legal questions and share legal information for free. The public is encouraged to bring their legal inquiries.
On Tuesday, October 23, local attorney Felicia M. Hamilton will provide legal consultation at Shreve Memorial Library Wallette Branch, located at 363 Hearne Avenue, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Hamilton will lead the discussion “Knowing Your Legal Rights,” covering civil topics such as wills, successions, divorce, and real estate. A question and answer period will follow the discussion.
Attorneys Sherron Phae Williams, Assistant City Attorney for the City of Shreveport, Brittany B. Arvie, Esq. and Monique I. Davis, Esq. will answer legal questions on Thursday, October 25 at Shreve Memorial Library Main Branch. Consultations will take place from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. in the Eaves Room at the branch, located at 424 Texas Street, downtown. Each attorney will provide free 15-minute individual “Ask-a-Lawyer” sessions, allowing patrons to ask questions about civil legal issues in a one-on-one setting. Free brief legal advice or a referral for additional help will be given.
On Friday, October 26, Ebonee Norris with The Norris Law Group, LLC will provide free individual consultations on legal issues at Shreve Memorial Library West Shreveport Branch. Legal sessions will start at 2:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the branch, located at 4380 Pines Road. The sessions are expected to end at 4:00 p.m.
