SHREVEPORT, La. - Moscow Ballet visits Shreveport for a unique audition.

Power & Grace School of Performing Arts served as the hosting dance studio in Northwest Louisiana for Moscow Ballet's audition tour for its upcoming production in November.

On Friday afternoon, local ballet students between the ages of 6 and 18 auditioned to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s community engagement “Dance-with-Us ” program.

"For local dance students-- for them to get to see a professional performance from the wings, the organized chaos that happens back behind the scene and then the beautiful show that happens that the audience sees is such an education," said Christy Holden, Power & Grace Schools of Performing Arts's Owner.

Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance-with-Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with professionals over the past 27 years.

For the Shreveport area, Yuriy Kuzo of Moscow Ballet led auditions.

"Our tour is the unique thing, because you can never find any other stuff or any other spot in the United States. It's a real Russian Nutcracker. So, the seven audition directors are traveling around the United States and teaching an audition-- local kids, for each city," said Moscow Ballet Audition Director and Soloist, Yuriy Kuzo.

See Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker on Sunday, November 10 at 5:00 p.m. at The Strand Theatre.
