Unwind after a long week of work by celebrating your freedom at Freedom Fest Fridays at East Bank in Bossier City, sponsored by the City of Bossier. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., May 31, June 7, 14, 21, and 28th, we’ll provide live local bands, your favorite food trucks, free parking, face painting, and a laid-back atmosphere to kick off your weekend right! Margaritaville Resort Casino and Tia’s Hope, a foundation dedicated to providing special memories for children spending part of their childhoods in hospitals, will host their 4th annual formal ball for all children ages 5-21 with special needs.

"PLEASE TOUCH THE ART" A SHOW FOR THE SENSES

"Please Touch the Art" - A Show for the Senses is a unique art exhibit that will encompass all the senses; texture, smell, taste, yes, taste and will interpret the artistic style of the artist by indulging the senses.

Artworks will be on display June 1 through July 31, 2019. An opening reception will be held June 7, 6-8 p.m.

BRASS BAND CONCERT: MUSICAL POSTCARDS

Join the British Brass Band of Louisiana on a musical holiday as we perform "Musical Postcards" from Rome, Scotland, New Zealand, Niagara Falls and more! John Caputo conducts and will also solo on euphonium, Michael Scarlato is featured cornet soloist. The British Brass Band of Louisiana brings together some of the finest brass and percussion musicians from the Arklatex region.

Color Chaos

COLOR CHAOS

Color Chaos is a paint/water war. It's a complete free-for-all, that involves water-based paint and water blasters. All supplies are provided. There is music, paint, and games, and all types of fun to support a worthy cause, the mentoring of Shreveport youth. The cost is $10 per person. Group discounts are available. Come out and join in the Chaos.

Bring your friends and family to Food Trucks at the Museum, a fun, free event that combines great food, history, tours and live music. Come sit under the towering oak trees at the historic Shreveport Water Works Museum, sample the food from multiple food trucks and vendors, tour the building that has multiple claims to fame and is on both the National Register of Historic Places AND a national engineering landmark. Hear how water saved Shreveport! The Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park will be on hand with wild animals and information, as will the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter. CPAS will have adoptable doggies for you to play with. (Warning: you MAY want to do home with one!) It's going to be a wonderful, family-friendly day!

North Louisiana Seafood Week

NORTH LOUISIANA SEAFOOD WEEK AND COOK OFF

Welcome to the second annual North Louisiana Seafood Week hosted by SALT Restaurant at the Shreveport Aquarium. This week-long celebration will include cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs cooking up only the finest Louisiana seafood dishes as well as fun competitions, educational sessions and giveaways. We will finish up the week with a Louisiana seafood cook-off to determine who will be crowned this year's champion.

5k Fathers' Day Run/Walk

Shreveport 1st Annual Fathers Day 5k run and walk will be taking place on Saturday June 8th at 8:30am at the Stae Fair Grounds, the weekend before Fathers Day. This event is to highlight Fathers in Shreveport and there families. Everyone is invited, there will be food, and fun activities after the run and walk for the entire family. The Mayor of Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins will be the lead runner.

Southern University Foundation's 20th Annual Gentlemen's Cooking Classic will be held at Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, June 8, 6-9 p.m . Admission is $35 for adults and $12.50 for children.

WALK-ON'S INDEPENDENCE BOWL YOUTH FOOTBALL CLINIC

Registration is now open for the 9th Annual Walk-On's Independence Bowl Youth Football Clinic. The clinic will be held June 8, 2019 at, Independence Stadium, 8-11:30 a.m. The event is free to all kids from five years old to incoming eighth graders.

Sign-in will begin at 7 a.m. at the southwest entrance to Independence Stadium. Participants will receive instruction from D1 Training Staff and regional college football coaches...as well as a free t-shirt and free lunch provided at the conclusion of the event.
