Ryan Gatti is an attorney in his native Bossier City. He's been a Republican member of the Louisiana Senate since January 11, 2016.
Senator Gatti serves as Vice-Chairman of the Insurance Committee and also serves on the Natural Resources Committee, Judiciary A Committee and Military Affairs.
Gatti has authored 57 bills since he was sworn in and 19 became Acts and were signed into law by the Governor.
Gatti is a long-time champion of foster children and the foster families who support them. Concerned that on-average 180 children age out of the foster care system at age 18 without finishing high school, he introduced Senate Bill 129 at the 2019 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature to allow those who are still in high school to stay in foster care until they finish high school or turn 21 years of age.
Much to his surprise, his fellow legislators agreed even though additional state expenditures were required during tight state budget times. He continues his effort working with child services officials to expand foster care services to all children until age 21.
