downtown shooting

SHREVEPORT, La. - A man and a woman were shot and killed in downtown Shreveport late Sunday. The Caddo Parish coroner has identified the victims.

Leejerryius Traveone Baines, 29, of Malcolm Street in Shreveport, and Chasmine Walters, 22, of Woolbert Street in Shreveport, were shot. Baines was shot once in the head and Walters was shot in the neck.

They were both shot just before 10:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Texas Street, during an altercation at the Royalty Cigar Bar. Baines died just before 11 p.m. at Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where an autopsy has been authorized. Walters died around 5 p.m. Monday, also at Ochsner LSU.

Another man, remains in serious condition following the shooting.

Police tell KTBS 3 News the argument started inside the bar and then moved outside. That's where the shooting started.

"We're still trying to determine what exact roles did the victims play, Cpl. Marcus Hines said. "Were they directly involved, were they indirectly involved and we're still trying to determine that," he said. "There were some people who witnessed what took place. We've spoken with them. So, we're gathering information there, as well as reviewing surveillance video," Hines said.

Anyone with any information about the shooting is urged to contact Crimestoppers right away at (318) 673-7373 or visit P3tips.com to leave a tip online.
