SHREVEPORT, La. - The James Burton Foundation is music to the ears of some Caddo students.
On Wednesday, the foundation was able to fulfill a new request from North Caddo Middle School for 60 guitars supporting their student music program.
Several years ago, The James Burton Foundation donated guitars to an Oil City school.
Vicki Kirkendall, guitar instructor for the school, stated “that donation helped tremendously and resulted in the creation of the school's pop/rock band known as The Sweet Potatoes.”
As a result of the foundation donation, interest was raised by students wanting to learn to play an instrument.
“So many school music programs need assistance continuing their worthwhile efforts. With the donations we receive from people that care all over the world, we’re so honored to be able to put guitars in the hands of these kids. That means the world,” James Burton said.
