There has been an increase in gator sightings in recent months. In June, an 8’ alligator was spotted in the middle of highway 1 in north Caddo Parish and in May another gator was spotted roaming near a pond in Damon Hubbard's Bossier Parish neighborhood. Experts believe the increasing incidences of gator sightings is due to flood waters.
This time of year is not a good time to approach or get anywhere near an alligator. If you see a gator near a pile of dirt, then that is a female gator protecting her nest.
"They just got out of mating, now they are into nesting,” Jeremy Woods said. “They are highly aggressive this time of year. Do not approach it. Turn around, walk the other way and call the proper authorities."
