BOSSIER CITY, La. - A couple that was married in the capital area last month is in the hospital with serious injuries after an explosion at their home.
The explosion happened Tuesday evening at a home in the 1700 block of Alison Avenue in Bossier City. The two were reportedly inside during the blast and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Posts on social media identify the victims as Medley and Kevin Bokun. The pair's wedding website says the two were married in Gonzales a little over three weeks ago.
A GoFundMe page for the couple says Kevin sustained mostly second-degree burns and some third-degree burns over the upper part of his body. Medley sustained second- and third-degree burns on 95 percent of her body and is looking at 15-20 surgeries and three months of hospital care.
"These two are such loving and giving souls who have lost pretty much everything. These funds will go to assisting the family as they stay by their side to support them through this hard time, to help replace what was lost in the fire and to help with what’s going to be a lot of medical care. If you are able to give we thank you from the bottom of our hearts but even if you can’t give lift these wonderful people up in prayer. Our God is an awesome God! He is a healer and the family is so thankful for your prayers," states a post by Lindsey Eakin.
Investigators have not determined the cause of the explosion at this time.
