UPDATE 5:45PM: Breonne Whitaker is guilty as charged of 2nd degree murder. The jury's decision was unanimous

***********************************************************************************************************************************************

Jury deliberations are underway in a murder case involving Shreveport teenager Breonne Whitaker and a 2013 shooting death.

Prosecutors said in closing statements that Whitaker struggles with an identity crisis and killed 23-year-old Frederick Henderson after a sexual encounter.

The prosecution said Whitaker tried to hide Henderson's real identity from friends -- calling him Fredericka -- and downplaying their relationship to his girlfriend.

But the defense says we'll never know each what happened in the car between the two men Sept 11, 2013 -- when Whitaker fired one shot through Henderson's arm and chest -- arguing this is a manslaughter case.

Jurors were sent into deliberations at 4:30. KTBS Crime Reporter Sara Machi is on court waiting for a decision.

Second degree murder carries the penalty of life imprisonment.
