COUSHATTA, La. - One man is dead after drowning in the Grand Bayou Reservoir.
The Red River Parish Sheriff's Office says they received a call about a possible drowning at Grand Bayou Resort on Saturday, August 17.
Emergency personnel arrived at the facility's boat launch as a personal barge was bringing the victim back to shore. The victim, a 51-year-old man from Many, was transported to Christus Coushatta Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The name of the victim has not been released.
The victim was swimming with a group of people in open water on the lake. He was reported to have several medical issues and no foul play is suspected. The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
