SHREVEPORT, La. - KTBS has learned more about the woman who police say was behind the wheel of the SUV that ran over and killed Lou’Quandelyn Hargrove in Shreveport yesterday.
Shameka Ellis is accused of hitting Hargrove on Southern Avenue, getting out of the vehicle, and running away with a child that was in the car.
Cpl. Marcus Hines with the Shreveport Police Department tells KTBS there are no previous arrests, but Ellis has reported domestic abuse battery five different times.
One year ago today, police say Ellis stabbed her boyfriend to death after the two got into a domestic dispute.
Police added the couple had a history of domestic violence.
Ellis was questioned by police the day of the stabbing, but then she was released.
KTBS reached out to the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office to see if they could share more about the previous case, but they don't have any records on Ellis.
Hines says a grand jury considered last year's case, but determined no crime was committed.
Police say there was an ongoing dispute between Ellis and Hargrove, and yesterday their feud turned into a fist fight and escalated.
Police believe Ellis started the argument.
They say, she intentionally drove towards Hargrove.
Witnesses say Hargrove was running away.
According to the arrest report, Ellis pinned Hargrove between the wall of a building and underneath the front tire of the SUV.
Ellis ran away but was caught minutes later.
Ellis is being held in the city jail without bond.
She's charged with second degree murder.
