SHREVEPORT La. - More than 100 SWEPCO employees are in the Florida helping with Hurricane Dorian.
Crews from Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview and Fayettville, Arkansas were assisting the utility company in Lake City, Florida. Officials said they're prepared for when the hurricane makes landfall.
"There's no major outages yet, but we're going to go stage and be in place and be prepared for when it does hit we'll be ready to start working right behind it," said Distribution Systems manager Craig Harland.
SWEPCO is a part of a volunteer group called National Mutual Assistance that respond to natural disasters.
