The TV station reported that a boy was swept into a culvert on an access road near Rena Road and the Interstate 40 bridge. The boy, who was said to be 8 or 9 years old, was reportedly swept under the bridge and came out at Rena Road.

The bridge travels over Lee Creek, which connects to the Arkansas River. The river has been spilling over its banks in Arkansas for more than a week after heavy rainfall in the Midwest.

Police reported that the boy survived. Information on his condition was not immediately known.

Roadways flooded Wednesday in Van Buren after nearly three inches of rain fell in one hour.
