TEXARKANA, Texas - Administrators are addressing a fight that forced a football game between the Liberty Eylau Leopards and the La Vega Pirates to be cut short Friday night.
The game was held a Harris Field on the Liberty Eylau High School campus.
Coaches, game officials and law enforcement separated the fighting players on the field.
The game was called in the third quarter.
Liberty Eylau ISD Athletic Director Klint King says they've reviewed video of the altercation, and believe both sides were at fault.
He says they're thankful no one was injured.
"Hopefully, they'll learn from this moving forward. We're going to take the disciplinary actions and punishment necessary in order to change the behavior and make sure this never happens again," said King.
According to University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules, students thrown out of a game are required to sit out for the first half of their next game.
School officials say they've taken that rule a step further.
They say all students who were actively involved in the fight will sit out for the entire next game.
