A new student recreation center at Texas A&M University - Texarkana is now open.
A ceremony was held Tuesday morning to dedicate the new Lois and Cary Patterson Student Center.
Texas A&M University Chancellor John Sharp addressed the crowd just before students lined up to check out the facility.
The $11 million building is 38,000 square feet.
It was funded through a public-private partnership with Eagle Lake Development of Texarkana, Texas.
The student center includes a gymnasium, classrooms for the new kinesiology program, fitness area, as well as, a cafe and lounge area for students.
"It's going to be the hub of Texas A&M Texarkana. We've been waiting an extensive time for this project to be completed and it was well worth the wait," explained Michael Galvan, TAMU-T Athletic Director.
"I think we're growing every single day and I this facility is perfect for our future to come," said Sebastian Barrientos, TAMU-T Junior.
The first facility Texas A&M Texarkana built at Bringle Lake was completed in 2008.
